March 31st, 2009 by Mark Spoonauer, LAPTOP Editor in Chief
Not all text messaging fiends care about 3G data for browsing the Web or streaming video. Many of them are just looking for a simple, straightforward device with a full QWERTY keyboard. The Sanyo SCP-2700 is just that, which will costs only $29.99 (with two-year agreement and after $50 mail-in rebate) when it goes on sale in May. This 1xRTT device, available in Deep Blue and Impulsive Pink with a subtle floral pattern, also lets MySpace and Facebook users post updates and photos on the go. Not only does the SCP-2700 support threaded text messaging, it comes with a dedicated emoticon key. Its 2.2-inch color display will give you plenty of room to read both incoming texts and for accessing Sprint Mobile E-mail (with support for AOL, Gmail, Windows Live, and Yahoo). You can also use this phone for getting turn-by-turn GPS directions via Sprint Navigation. A 1.3-MP camera, Sprint Family Locator, and Bluetooth round out the features. Full specs after the jump.
