Dave Ragones is a genius to realize the importance of quality graphics on a small platform. In addition, the idea of running high-end games on a netbook is right on target.

That said, the only question I have is... how will the DVD-requirement for some high-end gaming be satisfied in netbooks, since they don't feature a DVD drive?

The very moment this Ion platform is available in a quality netbook, I am a buyer!

Yup, very cool.

Not sure about the $50 premium, we'll see. Also I won't be taking NVidia's word for it on the battery performance, which is so critical for netbooks. But great to see some competition in this space.

This should be a good chipset for a nettop/media center computer at the very least, with HDMI and HD support it otherwise couldn't offer.

I still think Vista might perform poorly, since its not just the graphics issues that bog it down. If it was you could just disable Aero. Its the larger memory footprint and such vs. XP. But by the time this comes out Windows 7 could be here...
