Nokia is rumored to launch a flagship successor to its Lumia 920—this time on Verizon’s network rather than AT&T’s. Neither Nokia nor Verizon have revealed any details about the purported Lumia 928 handset, but that could all change very soon.
The Finnish manufacturer may unveil the Windows Phone 8 device as early as next week on April 25, according to blog Nokia-Lumia-928. The website allegedly received a tip from an unnamed source, which also says the phone will be made available one or two weeks after the initial announcement.
While this information can only be considered rumor at this point, an April 25 unveil date does line up with a Nokia event scheduled in Malaysia. It’s also worth noting that Verizon has a knack for announcing new products on Thursdays, as it revealed the Lumia 822, BlackBerry Z10 and LG Lucid 2 on that day in recent months.
What’s more, an alleged photo believed to be the Lumia 928 surfaced on @evleak’s Twitter account yesterday. There doesn’t seem to be too much of a difference, but if accurate the device’ rear confirms that the 928 will come with a Carl Zeiss lens just like its predecessor. The image also shows an Xbox live tile on the home screen housing the user’s Xbox Live avatar.
