Nexus One passes FCC, gears up for Verizon and Vodafone

Google’s Nexus One is moving right along these days and headed to bigger places. What appears to be a CDMA version of the Nexus One has recently been cleared by the FCC. The GSM version of the Nexus One currently available for T-Mobile USA has the model number PB99100, while the device that just passed through the FCC bears the number PB99300. It’s hard to imagine that it could be anything but the Nexus One that is headed for Verizon.

After all, during Google’s Nexus One launch event in January, the search giant said that the handset would become available for both Vodafone and Verizon some time in Spring 2010. Recent rumors put the exact launch date of the Verizon Nexus One at March 23, just weeks from now. It’s not 100% confirmed, but the time frame certainly makes sense given the recent FCC clearance.

Another Spring launch announced during the Nexus One event was set for Vodafone UK. While the phone has been available unlocked and unsubsidized through Google’s website, Vodafone customers can expect to pick up a Nexus One for a lot less with a Vodafone service plan. Telegraph says the device will launch in April for Vodafone, but there is no specific date. Hopefully it will be in early April rather than later, but we’ll keep you updated!
