It looks like one of the best no-contract smartphones is about to get more personality. According to a new leak, the Nexus 5 could be available soon in six new color options.
A tipster recently sent PhoneArena video of what claims to be a revamped page for the Nexus 5 in the Google Play Store. The footage doesn’t specify when the new color choices will be available, but does show options such as red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.

It’s unclear how accurate these images are, but offering additional color variants would align with Motorola and Google’s strategy regarding the Moto X and Moto G. Part of the Moto X’s appeal is its robust customization and slew of color combinations available for the phone. However, you have to wait about four days to get your custom-made device.
The budget-friendly Moto G doesn’t offer the same options, but Motorola does sell a range of brightly colored shells for the lower-end handset. The iPhone 5c comes in multiple colors as well, so this is certainly a trend for smartphone makers.
Given that Apple and Samsung now account for 68 percent of smartphones sold in the U.S., Google and other competitors could use every bit of help they can get.
