New Laptop Messenger Bag Great for Naps, Not So Much For Protection

Case Logic Sleeping BagSo we got in an NSB/NSS messenger bag and sleeve from Case Logic. It comes in a Brake Light Orange that reminds me of nothing more than Northern Exposure, and its puffed-up, feather-down-vest appearance* just reinforces the reference.

But hey, it’s really comfortable to sleep on.

No, really. We’ve been calling it the Sleeping Bag, and that’s what it looks like: a sleeping bag for your laptop. I can’t exactly say I’d want to sleep on it while I had my laptop in there, but it’s quite comfortable—and convenient—as a makeshift pillow if you’re in the airport or taking an afternoon nap in the office.

There’s a handy, deep pocket on the side (which doesn’t go all the way through, or we’d have been tempted to wander around the office using it as a giant uni-mitten) for all those extra items you need to carry but don’t want scratching your laptop. And its unique appearance means you’ll definitely stand out amongst the crowd toting messenger bags. It fits laptops up to 16″ and it’s pretty cheap for a stylin’ messenger/laptop bag ($49.99).

If you’re going to carry a heavier laptop, though, beware the shoulder strap: there’s no shoulder pad, so it cuts in rather painfully after awhile. And while it’s soft and huggable, it’s not the top tier of laptop protection—if you drop your laptop in its sleeping bag, something’s probably going to break.

Still, Brake Light Orange. Can’t go wrong with colors Crayola would be envious of.

*It’s polyester, actually. But it looks like a feather-down vest.
