New Amazon Kindle Expected on May 6th
May 4th, 2009 by Todd Haselton
On Wednesday May 6th, Amazon will be holding a press conference here in New York City, and many are speculating that it could be centered around the launch of a new Kindle e-reader device.
A New York Times article claims that it could have a larger screen, which will help it cater to newspaper and magazine content. On the Kindle 2, newspaper and magazine pages are formatted a bit awkwardly, as they are crammed onto a screen that’s formatted for displaying books. A larger screened Kindle could even open up the ability for media outlets to display advertisements on a large page.
The speculation has good footing, too; The New York Times stated that it is expected to be involved in the introduction of the device, and the Financial Times is said to be looking at it with a “great deal of interest,” according to the article.
We’ll be in attendance at the press conference, so stay tuned to http://blog.laptopmag.com on Wednesday for more updates.
