Today at WWDC, we saw demos from three key developers. The theme: popular entertainment apps, particularly those that debuted on the iPad, are trickling down to the iPhone. These apps include Netflix, Guitar Hero, and Farmville.

Netflix is already a hit on the iPad and now it’s moving to the (really) small screen on the iPhone this summer. The app will be free and promises streaming that will pick up from where you left off on your last device. We love the idea of watching a movie on our Wii and then finishing it on our iPhone during our commute the next morning. Netflix and Apple also said that streaming Netflix movies will “seamlessly switch between networks.” Sound to us like Netflix fans should choose AT&T’s 2GB plan and use Wi-fi as much as possible.

Zynga’s Farmville is either one of the most beloved or hated games on Facebook– mostly depending on if you play it or if you just get spammed with friends’ requests to fertilize their crops– and now it’s getting its own iPhone app. The app will sync with your Facebook farm and will feature push notification reminders to harvest your crops. Yes, push notification technology will remind you to virtually harvest your fake crops.  The free Farmville app will be in the App Store by the end of June and includes a “farm” animal exclusive to the app– a snow leopard. Awww.

Finally, the very cool looking Guitar Hero app will start you rocking for a mere $2.99 and is available starting today in the App Store for both the iPhone and iPhone touch. In addition to tapping on the notes ala Tap Tap Revenge, the new Guitar Hero app will also include strumming and whammy bar capabilities. The app also lets you create your own avatar and share all of your game accomplishments to Facebook– just in case you weren’t annoying your friends enough with all of your Farmville updates. The app initially comes with a mix of classic hits such as Queen’s “We are the Champions” and the Rolling Stones’ “Paint it Black,” and newer hits such as Rise Against’s “Savior” and the White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army.”  Playing opening bass line alone on that song is going to be a blast. Additionally song packs may be purchased from within the Guitar Hero app for $1.99. Those include a mix of three songs or three songs from one artist such as Vampire Weekend.
