April 3rd, 2009 by Michael A. Prospero, LAPTOP Reviews Editor
For the second game of today’s doubleheader, we have two ASUS netbooks facing off against one another. The EeePC 1000HE, whose 6-cell battery has one of the best runtimes we’ve ever seen in a netbook, and the N10J-A2, whose discrete graphics chip provides ultraportable power in a netbook-sized package. I’m pulling for the N10J, since I think it’ll remain “current” for longer than any other netbook, but I can see the 1000HE winning overwhelmingly since it’s so well rounded.

I vote for Asus EeePC 1000HE! Battery is really important for me, and after reading an article about it, I can see many pluses! Could be a bit lighter and have new Samsund 256GB SSD disk, but nothing is perfect!

The GeForce on the N10J is tempting, but its battery life and price greatly counter its benefits.

TO BE HONEST WITH YOU IN THE BEGINNING I PURCHASED THE EEE PC 1000H,WAS NICE AND DECENT.THEN THE 1000HE CAME ON THE SCENE AND I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THE REVIEWS.SO LONG STORY SHORT I WILL GIVE MY 1000H TO A FAMILY MEMBER/RELATIVE,WILL ALSO CALL ASUS TO SEE IF THEY CAN UPGRADE THE 1000H’S KEYBOARD TO THE BETTER ONE. MY REASON TO BUYING A NETBOOK IS THAT WHEN I GO ON FISHING OR OTHER TRIPS I NEED SOMETHING THAT WILL BE A BIT LIGHTER TO CARRY THAN MY PRIMARY NOTEBOOK.WHAT SOLD ME ON THE 1000HE FROM THE OTHER COMPANIES IS BATTERY POWER,APPEARANCE,AND ABILITY TO UPGRADE. THANK YOU.
