Last week, CTIA VP Rob Mesirow hinted that a “significant” new tablet would be unveiled at this year’s CTIA in Orlando. As one of the key individuals charged with overseeing the event, he probably knows what he’s talking about. Of course, he didn’t exactly say what or who would be launching this “significant” tablet.
Well, thanks to a mysterious invite from Samsung, we may have some more tidbits to fill in the missing holes. The invite in question, poses the question “What’s your Tab Life? 78910″. With a little deductive reasoning, the folks over at Technology Nerd have hypothesized that the “89” in the represents the 8.9-inch screen size of a new Android 3.0 Galaxy Tab. This would make it the middle brother in the Galaxy Tab family which already includes 7-inch and 10-inch siblings and works nicely with the 78910 riddle.
There is the possibility, however, that Rob Mesirow was talking about a different tablet. Making the rounds today on the tech rumor mill are reports that Sprint will be announcing a new tablet during CTIA as well: the HTC View. Believed to be the US version of the recently announced Flyer android tablet that HTC announced last month at Mobile World Congress, the HTC View would come with Android 2.3 and take pen input so users can take notes and record audio at the same time. And if it comes with Sprint’s 4G WiMax connection, then one could definitely categorize this as a significant tablet also.
We’ll be on hand at CTIA to catch this and other news, so keep your eyes on the blog.
