MyMacNetbook Makes Hackintoshing Your Netbook Easier

March 26th, 2010 by K. T. Bradford

Back when they announced the iPad, Apple dashed any hopes that the company might someday consider making a netbook. They’d stated this before, but their tablet effectively put a nail in the coffin on that discussion for the near future. If you still long for Mac OS X on a 10-inch screen, don’t despair. There are plenty of netbooks out there you can hackintosh (hack to run Mac OS X). As long as you have patience and a willingness to be naughty. And now you don’t even have to comb through dozens of forum topics and back-alley websites to find instructions on how to do so. InsanelyMac recently launched MyMacNetbook, a one-stop shop for all your hackintoshing needs. There are only three full-on guides right now, but considering the wealth of info available more will likely come soon. The site even includes an amazingly useful compatibility chart listing which hardware, functions and features work out of the box on which systems. If you’re not all that into soldering on a new Wi-Fi card check the chart before you buy. I’m not sure how long this will last before DMCA notices start flying, but maybe MyMacNetbook can get away with it for a while. Steve Jobs can’t stop people from loving netbooks or OS X or the Reese’s cup combo of the two. Might as well leave people to do what they want as long as they buy a copy of Snow Leopard, right?
