MyFord Mobile App Offers Car Stats and More for Focus Electric

Jan 7, 2011 12:39 PM EDT by Sarah Silbert, LAPTOP Staff Writer

Ford was in town at CES to show off its new MyFord Mobile app for the 2012 Focus electric car. Available online and on Android, Blackberry, and iPhone, the app lets car owners check their car’s battery life and provides route information via MapQuest.

MyFord Mobile will also offer the ability to remote-start your car and locate it on a map. On the social networking side, the app awards achievements for eco-driving which can be shared on Facebook and Twitter. The app also lets you know the least expensive hours on the grid—so you can charge your car accordingly.

The app will be free for the first five years of Focus electric ownership. So far, no release date has been announced.
