MTV Star Judges Sony VAIO Laptop Contest; Talks About Laptops

Laptop manufacturers seem to be teaming up right and left with celebrities and fashion designers. Tonight Sony VAIO and Microsoft unveiled the winners of the “My Graphic Splash” design contest on a fashion runway at a swanky New York City club.

The Graphic Splash contest, which ran from July through August, had people submit original laptop lid designs for the Sony VAIO FW series. After a couple thousand submissions finalist were chosen and judged by Fashion Designer, and star of MTV’s the hit show The Hills Lauren Conrad. The other judges included graphic designer Maya Hayuk and fashion luminary Kelly Nishimoto. The three winners of the design contest were awarded $5,000 each. The three winning notebook designs will be sold as exclusive limited editions on sonystyle.com this fall. Check out the tons of shots of the finalist designs in the gallery below.

After the winners were announced we got some time to talk with Lauren Conrad (formerly LC of MTV’s Laguna Beach) who has a current hit reality MTV show called The Hills. While Star Magazine and US Weekly were asking Lauren about her love life, we asked about her laptop and what she looked for in judging the Sony VAIO contest.

Turns out Sony didn’t pick Lauren for her laptop knowledge as doesn’t know what laptop she has but apparently it has a DVD player. “I looked for designs that were simple and colorful,” she said of her finalist picks.
