MSI Wind U123 Longest Lasting Netbook Yet
April 30th, 2009 by Joanna Stern
The race is on to be the longest running netbook on the track. While Samsung’s N110 previously held the title of the netbook available with the longest battery life, MSI’s Wind U123 swept in and took the lead with its over 8 hours of battery life. See our recently posted full review of the MSI Wind U123.
While the $379 Wind U123 has a nine-cell battery and all its closest competitors have six-cell batteries, it lasted a whopping eight hours and 14 minutes on our LAPTOP Battery Test which cycles through websites until the battery is drained. The Samsung N110 ($326.95), HP Mini 2140 ($349.99) and ASUS Eee PC 1000HE all sport six cell batteries and don’t weight as much as the Wind U123.
MSI Wind U123 – 8:14
Samsung N110 – 7:24
HP Mini 2140 – 7: 19
ASUS Eee PC 1000HE – 7:08
We were impressed with the Wind U123, even though it weighs more than most of its competitors. Consider that it only costs $379 (that is $100 less than the Samsung N110). Are you tempted by eight hours of battery life even if it means you have a bit of extra weight in your bag?
