MSI Unleashes Wind U100 PLUS; X340 Arriving Anyday Now

April 21st, 2009 by Joanna Stern

msi1MSI is all about the springtime products. The company today announced that it is updating its original Wind U100 and that its ultra slim X34, the world’s first notebook to be powered by Intel’s CULV processors, will hit the market by the end of this month.

The MSI Wind U100 PLUS will have the same chassis as the original Wind but will just be powered by the latest Intel Atom N280 processor.  This processor is currently only found in the ASUS’ Eee PC 1000HE.  The new Wind series will be available in a rainbow of colors, including black, white, red, pink, and blue. MSI will also be bringing the Wind U123 to market which has the same chassis as the U120 but also sports the faster 1.66GHz N280 processor.

In addition to the MSI Wind U100 PLUS, MSI will start shipping its X340 notebook. We got a detailed hands-on with the system at CTIA last month but the ultra-light, ultra-thin notebook equipped with Intel’s brand new CULV platform and Intel SU3500 CULV processor will be in the hands of many more before the end of the month. We are expecting our review units of both the Wind U123 and the X340 in the next few weeks – stay tuned.
