OK so the screen could be better…I wholheartedly agree. I’m more interested in the comment that upgrading your wind to 2GB RAM wil NOT void warranty.

So does this coun’t retrospectively?….I have had my U100 for 6 months or more now , Does this mean that I can go ahead and shove in some extra RAM now?

Netbook screens are already pretty high-res. 1024×600 at 8.9″ is 133ppi. HP’s 1280×768 is 167ppi. In contrast, the screen I’m using right now (1920×1200 at 24″) is 94ppi. I wouldn’t want my netbook screen any more high-res, but I would dig on some more space. There’s a thick bezel around the Aspire One for example, they could bump it to a 10″ display and not increase the case size.

1024×600 really sucks. I am still waiting for a netbook with STANDARD resolution: 1024×768. Why do not they add these 168 lines of pixels? Some programs (older games) can not work properly on this stupid 1024×600 resolition. 600 lines is not enough for some dialogues. Moreover, netbooks are used for web and viewing/editing documents, rather than watching movies. So why wide-screen?

it is very difficult to increase the resolutions , if you read here http://thelaptopadvice.com/index.php?option=com_mtree&task=viewlink&link_id=1&Itemid=2 you will understand why this is not posible

What is it with the 1024×600 love affair? Can’t we at least have the option of 1280×768? HP did it on their first VIA-based netbook and at 8.9 inches no less. Someone please tell these companies to offer slightly higher resolutions!

Well, imho a 12-incher doesn’t count as a netbook anymore. If they could make it just as light as the 9 or 10-inch models, though, I might be tempted to take a look.

But well, since they’re that large already, unless they can pump out as much processing power as similarly priced, dual core old laptop models, I’m not biting. Atom still doesn’t cut it. Portability? Any 13 or 14-inch lappie is just as portable.
