It looks like ASUS is getting in on the phablet game. At this year’s Computex the manufacturer unveiled its FonePad Note, a 6.1-inch phablet with 3G connectivity and a 1080p IPS touch screen display. The device will ship with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and comes equipped with a slew of note-taking apps catered to its stylus.
ASUS didn’t dive into details about its pen-optimized software, but there’s no denying that this FonePad competes directly with Samsung’s Galaxy Note series. There’s no word on pricing or availability just yet, but if the handset comes to the U.S. we’re interested to see how it fares in the competition. Its lack of LTE could be a drawback for the North American market, but perhaps ASUS will slap it with an aggressive price point just like its $149 MeMO Pad HD 7.
