Mini-Notebook Typing Madness Part III: 2go PC

May 1st, 2008 by Meghan J. McDonough

Welcome to the third day of LAPTOP’s Mini-Notebook Type Off! To quickly recap, our four typing gladiators are pounding out the famous “To be or not to be” soliloquy from Shakespeare’s Hamlet on the Eee PC, the HP Mini-Note, the 2Go PC and our control laptop, a ThinkPad with a full-sized keyboard. We are filming and posting their results throughout the challenge for your viewing pleasure.

Today, the fiercest typists in our office challenged the CTL 2Go PC. Also known as Intel’s Classmate 2, this keyboard is meant for children and proved difficult for typing gladiator-sized hands to conquer. Avram “The ESC Artist” Piltch took this contest with a score of 59 words per minute (wpm). Emily “Key Crusher” Kizer was tripped up by the 2Go’s keyboard and came in second with 47 wpm. TJ “Furious Fingers” Fink finished third with 38 wpm and Jeffrey “Hands of Steel” Wilson turned in a strong score of 33 wpm.

Stay tuned; we’ll announce the mini-notebook with the best keyboard tomorrow. In the meantime, we invite you to play along at home. We used Ten Thumbs Typing Tutor’s “To be or not to be” test . Can you type faster than Key Crusher? How about the ESC Artist? Take the test and post your scores below.

This was the funniest one yet! Emily’s giggles were hilarious. You might have to do this when the Asus e900 arrives.
