Microsoft Says Windows 7 Ready By the Holidays
The worst-kept secret at Microsoft is now a secret no longer. Today, Brandon LeBlanc posted on the Windows 7 ($79.95) Team BlogĀ that the company expects its upcoming OS to reach RTM (release-to-manufacturer) stage within 3 months and be ready in time for the holidays.
As several vendors, including Acer, had already hinted at a fall release date for Windows 7, we’re not very suprised. Now that the news is out in the open, consumers who want to buy notebooks today may be left with an interesting question: do I buy my system now with Vista or wait a few more months for a laptop that has Windows 7 preloaded? Would you wait for Windows 7? Tell us what you think in the poll below.

“POLL: Are you waiting for Windows 7 before you buy a new notebook?”
Very interesting… I wonder if these people realise they’ll be getting a heavily cut-down version of the OS, which limits application usage to 3 apps at a time, and still won’t be as fast as XP on a netbook, let alone a lean linux-variant.
I expect a repeat of the Vista shock-horror-it’s-horrible! factor. The Ow Starts Now!

This poll is not specific enough. I am neither waiting for W7 nor buying Vista now.
Because W7 isn’t ready, the smartest thing for consumers who need a computer now to do is to purchase a Mac.
