Microsoft Offers Students Extra Low Price On Windows 7

September 21st, 2009 by K. T. Bradford  Current Price: $48.98 (3 sellers)

windows 7 30 dollars for studentsStudents who want to upgrade their PCs to the latest version of Windows are in luck. Microsoft is offering Win7 Home Premium and Professional to those with college or university email addresses for only $30, (Funny how that’s the same price as Snow Leopard…) $90 less than the normal asking price.

American students can begin pre-ordering now through Win741.com. UK students will have to wait until September 30th to pre-order, and those in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Korea and Mexico can start on October 22nd.

Also mentioned on the site is another deal for students: Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007, which includes Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and OneNote plus Access, Publisher, InfoPath and Groove, all for $60.

Considering that netbook and Windows notebook sales to students were up this year over Apple, which usually leads in educational sales, this seems a good move on Microsoft’s part. The low price plus the promise of better performance should entice many students currently running Vista to go for the upgrade and maybe a few who’ve so far been happy with XP.

This offer ends on January 3rd, 2010.

I think students should make sure that they don’t already have access to a free copy of Windows 7 through MSDN, as my school does.

$30 is alot more than free!
