Microsoft, Adobe Roll Out Security Updates
September 13th, 2011 by Matt Liebowitz, SecurityNewsDaily Staff Writer
Microsoft and Adobe will both release security updates tomorrow (Sept. 13) to address flaws in several of their popular software products, including Office, Reader and Acrobat.
Microsoft’s security updates come courtesy of its monthly Patch Tuesday. This month’s batch consists of five bulletins addressing 15 vulnerabilities labeled “important” in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Server Software. If left unpatched, the security flaws could allow an attacker to remotely take control of infected systems and execute malicious code, Microsoft wrote on its TechNet blog.
Along with Microsoft, software giant Adobe is rolling out several critical security updates for its prized programs, Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat. Covered under the security blanket are: Adobe Reader X (10.1) and earlier versions and Adobe Acrobat X (10.1) and earlier versions. The Adobe updates affect users of Windows and Mac computers.
To download these security updates, visit Adobe and Microsoft’s website. It’s also important to employ strong security defenses such as anti-virus and anti-malware software, which can detect threats before they infect your computer.
