Over at Storage Visions, the other tech conference taking over Las Vegas at the moment, Micron has just revealed a new line of faster, higher-capacity solid state drives for flash-based notebooks. These drives incorporate Micron’s 25-nanometer NAND flash technology and have storage capacities ranging from 64GB to 512GB. The SSDs are available in 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch form factors.

According to Micron’s press release, this product line supports the SATA 6Gbps interface, which allows for improved system responsiveness and speedier boot times. The RealSSDs reach read speeds of up 415Mbps—17 percent faster than Micron’s previous generation of drives. Writing performance varies according to drive size, but the 512GB model boasts writing speeds up of to 260Mbps.

Micron plans to market these drives under the moniker RealSSD C400. The company expects to start mass production in February.
