Mark Zuckerberg Fan Page Taken Down After Hacking

January 26th, 2011 by Corvida Raven

The unthinkable happened on the web yesterday. Something that you might have been waiting years to see. Are you ready?  Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook fan page was hacked. I repeat, someone hacked the Facebook fan page of the person that built Facebook. Let’s pause for this moment of silence as you debate whether or not your own Facebook profile is safe. Pause. Now, where do we begin with this one?

If you noticed Mark Zuckerberg missing from your Facebook newsfeed, it’s because his fan page was taken down yesterday after being hacked. Facebook hasn’t issued any statements regarding an unusual message that appeared on Zuckerberg’s fan page:

“Let the hacking begin: If facebook needs money, instead of going to the banks, why doesn’t Facebook let its users invest in Facebook in a social way? Why not transform Facebook into a ‘social business’ the way Nobel Price winner Muhammad Yunus described it? http://bit.ly/fs6rT3 What do you think? #hackercup2011”

The attack cuts close to the upcoming Data Privacy Day, and data privacy has been rough waters for Facebook’s ship. What could be regarded as a comment on the situation is Facebook’s latest blog post on their commitment to security. It’s almost comical how much of a press nightmare this could be for Facebook. In the meantime, if you need your Mark Zuckerberg fix you can add his other Facebook page.
