The only thing keeping me from making the switch is the ability to keep the phone number I've had for 30 years.

I love MagicJack! I need it specially to fax. I had little problems in the beginning faxing. But now, as I have configured it properly, I can send and receive it with no problems what so ever. I also figured that you dont even need a fax machine to send a fax. all you need is just the magicjack and fax console program (microsoft program). That's it. Connecting one end of the magicjack to the usb and the other end to the modem through the phone cable to the same computer and configure the modem. That's it. It does the magic. I also found out that you can still use the phone using your headset.

Thanks again! YAAAY to magicjack!

I am landlocked or cell jacked at the present, WildBlue is not supported, but good news Wireless is on its way for us mountain folk. And when it is, MJ will be our communications vehicle. I do Linux, and it will hurt my self-respect to have to put Microslop on a box just for phone, but then maybe MJ will make good and release a Linux version. However, triangulation capability is a slap in the face for those of us who think big brother and the NWO can go to H_ll, and we don't call 9-11. Lets hold on to as many bits of communication privacy as is left to enjoy.

Still waiting on the number porting. I want to port my home number, since my area code is not available. I'm really wondering if this will ever occur.

there is a problem with using the Magic Jack and USB headsets. an issue with switching between the two. sometimes the microphone does not switch when you select headset. It drops headphone calls randomly

Been Majic Jack Customer for 2 Years, love the service both reliable and simple to use. Hosting Jack on home server and wired it throughout the house on Brn/Wht pair.. It now provides dialtone to 3 cordless phones and one 2500 DTMF phone.. Will be porting my POTs Number to it once number porting is available. Works good through wifi hotspots already!

If you like the magicJack (or not), check out this feature enhacnement app now available for the magicJack.
It's call MagicBeans, and adds a bunch of features for use of the magicJack including
Block Calls via CallerID, Extend the number of Rings before going to voicemail (ie Ring duration),
and a bunch of other features.
