January 6th, 2011 by Anna Attkisson, LAPTOP Managing Editor
As a follow up to the existing eXplorist 510, 610, and 710, Magellan’s latest addition of the 310 is a basic and ruggedized and waterproof handheld GPS device intended for the newbie explorer. The 2.2-inch color screen displays a simple interface, which can help you with geocashing and is accurate to 3 to 5 meters. The device also features more advanced GPS features such as waypoint creation, active tracking, and track summary. The $199 eXplorist 310 comes pre-loaded with a world map, and you can upload your own topographical maps. Two AA batteries should get you 18 hours of use.
