Lenovo Launches Over a Dozen New IdeaPads, Touts 10-Second Boot Time
January 4th, 2011 by Avram Piltch, LAPTOP Online Editorial Director
Lenovo is making the most of Intel and AMD’s latest technologies. Having already announced a new line of premium ThinkPad Edge notebooks featuring Sandy Bridge (2nd-generation Core series) CPUs and the ThinkPad X120e with AMD Fusion, the company today announced nearly two-dozen new consmer and small office oriented systems, most of which carry the IdeaPad moniker (with the exception of the G and B series which are just referred to as Lenovo G series and Lenovo B series).
Many of the new systems feature Intel’s 2nd generation Core series CPUs (aka Sandy Bridge) while a few others feature AMD’s new Fusion platform. Perhaps most exciting of all is the addition of RapidDrive technology as an option to the Y Series, because with its speedy Intel SSD as a boot drive the IdeaPad Ys are supposed to start in under 10 seconds.
