Lenovo IdeaPad Y460 Reviewed: A Dash of Flair, A Pinch of Power

Lenovo’s new IdeaPad Y460 has much to recommend it. The Core i5 CPU coupled with discrete ATI graphics makes for a great multimedia machine. The light weight and attractive design mean you won’t be ashamed to pull it out white at the coffee shop. But the thing that made us sit up and pay attention was the addition of a SlideNav control at the top of the deck.

SlideNav’s touch-sensitive bar adds a bit of fun to the machine while giving quick access to shortcuts, a neat way to lock the screen when you need to step away, and even multiple desktops/workspaces (something Linux users will be familiar with).

We dig the SlideNav and Lenovo’s other branded utilities, and we’re more than happy with the quality of the audio and our gaming experience. But we wish the Y460 lasted longer on a charge and that it wasn’t so expensive.
