Lenovo is celebrating a milestone and upgrading its popular ThinkPad T Series at the same time. Today, the company announced that it has sold 60 million ThinkPads since IBM launched the notebook line launched over 18 years ago.

The company also revealed that the ThinkPad T410, T410s, and T510 will all be available starting today with Nvidia’s Optimus graphics-switching technology as an option. Up until now, the ThinkPad T series has been available with either integrated or discrete graphics, but by adding Optimus, users will be able to get the best of both worlds: the long battery life offered by Intel graphics and the added performance of an Nvidia NVS 3100M graphics card.

In addition to its Optimus upgrade, Lenovo touted some of the many innovations it has introduced during the 18 years of ThinkPad design, including introducing the first spill-resistant keyboard, the first built-in fingerprint reader, and the first dual screen mobile workstation. The vendor said that more than 14 ThinkPads are sold every 60 seconds so a few people probably clicked “buy” while you were reading this.

At LAPTOP, we’ve long admired the strong build quality, incredible input tools (keyboards, trackpoints, touchpads), and ground-breaking design of ThinkPads. We look forward to seeing all the ThinkPad innovations the next 18 years bring.
