Leaked Android 2.2 Froyo ROM Hits HTC Droid Incredible
July 28th, 2010 by Eric Chiu
Last week, we showed you how to root your HTC Droid Incredible and install a Froyo-based ROM. But even if an official Froyo over-the-air update is already in the pipeline, why wait for Verizon to bring it to your doorstep when you can do it yourself?
Today, the folks over at xda-developers released a ROM that’s based off of the upcoming Froyo update for the Incredible. The process is slightly more intensive than our earlier guide—if your phone has an older baseband version, you’ll have to update the radio manually. Plus, if you already rooted the Incredible, you’ll have to revert the phone back to stock settings for the radio update.
If you have the time to kill, though, it’s definitely worth the investment. The forum post covers the entire installation process—which includes the 720p video recording OTA update that hit some Incredible handsets last week. We finished installing the ROM today and it has everything that Android 2.1 users have been craving for a while: Flash 10.1, 3G Mobile Hotspot capabilities and various Froyo tweaks and upgrades.
Check out the guide at xda-developers and let us know how it works for you in the comments.
