Kindle Case Causes Crashes

Dec 22, 2010 12:44 PM EDT by Anna Attkisson, LAPTOP Managing Editor

It’s unclear why, but the black Kindle Leather Cover is reportedly causing meltdowns for some Kindle owners. The bottom-of-the-line, $34.99 case is somehow causing the Kindle 3G to crash and reboot and the only solution seems to be to stop using the case. Amazon forum users are speculating that the case’s metal hinges are causing the problem, but those same hinges are not affecting the more expensive Kindle Lighted Leather Cover ($59.99). Amazon is offering owners replacements and refunds. To get yours e-mail kindle-response@amazon.com, and then share your horror story in our comments below.
