JooJoo’s FCC Visit Reveals Nvidia Ion Graphics and SIM Card Slot

You know how there are supposed to be something like 50 ARM-based tablets coming to market over the next year? It’s likely that many of them will be Nvidia Tegra 2-based, as promised by the CEO back at CES. Nvidia is definitely taking the lead in the tablet space (as least as concerns number of offerings) but not all tablets are for Tegra. The JooJoo — which promised smooth 1080p video playback — has some Nvidia magic going on, but not of the Tegra variety. Instead, it has Ion inside.

That’s first-gen Ion paired with an Intel Atom N270 CPU, not the speedier, more powerful Ion we’re set to see paired with Pine Trail chips. Still, that’s some pretty fancy graphics muscle you have there, JooJoo. Not only do I see some HD video, but also some Flash support. Take that, iPad.

Engadget’s look at the FCC teardown also shows a SIM card slot, but that’s not too surprising as 3G was something Fusion Garage talked about including. Still, can we maybe hope for some hot-swappable action there?

This coupled with the new interface the tablet is sporting is an obvious ploy to get us all excited about the coming launch. And it’s working. How many more days, again?
