It’s easy for industry watchers, bloggers and everyone else to get carried away by the hype that Apple rumors create about a unannounced product. Today, Tim Cook took the stage and announced what we’ve been waiting for — the iPhone 5. This, of course, leads us to ask the obvious question: how correct were these rumors?
The Rumor: According to Reuters and the WSJ, the iPhone 5 will have a 4-inch display and a 16:9 display ratio.
The Reveal: TRUE
As we approached the iPhone 5 event, cases and physical mockups appeared in the media. At the event, Tim Cook did indeed bring out the iPhone 5 with a 4” display. The disappointing bit is that all older apps will be centered on the iPhone 5 and black bars will be filled in on the side until the app developer updates the app.
