Um, I can’t find a Xoom anywhere for less than $799. Is there some lower-priced model that isn’t shipping yet?

with contract price

Lets compare apples to apples here. The iPad at $499 is an outright price. The Xoom at $599 is a subsidized price with a 2 year service contract. The outright price on the Xoom is $799.

Lets compare the actual prices shall we Brandon.
the apple price of $499 u state is a wifi only 16 gig version.
the wifi only version of the xoom is $539 and it still has 32 gigs.
Lets keep in mind that the zoom has 32 gigs with the option to upgrade it via microSD up to 64gb more.
So thats a 32 Gig xoom with wifi and 3g+4g upgradable for $799 outright.
Ipad 32 gig no room to upgrade size and has wifi + 3g only for $729.
You cant compare apples to apples when you bend the facts.

I would choose the ipad because its got a lot of apps and all what people want these days are apps, but if you don’t care about that and want a good rear camera then go for the xoom or the playbook they are excellent tablets, if you are more of an internet surfer or want to use a tablet for viewing presentations, talking to your friends on the internet, and the most important thing is that you want it cheap then go for the touchpad.
