Ion Twin Video Camcorder: Two Lenses, Two Mics, Too Much?
September 4th, 2010 by K. T. Bradford
Cameras and camcorders abound here at IFA, but one device caught my eye as I walked the floor. Tucked between a kiosk showing off analog to digital converter devices and musical instruments with a digital edge was this neat little device: the Twin Video. This camera has two lenses, one in front and one in back, and users can switch between them with a single button press. And yes, it works while in recording mode as well.
Ion sees this as the perfect device for interviewers, video bloggers, and people who love recording for YouTube and Facebook. Since you can switch cameras as you record, there’s no need to splice together two views after the fact. With mics on both sides, one voice won’t overpower another, nor will users have to worry about positioning. And as you can see from the pictures, it outputs live video as well.
The Twin Video costs around $120 here in the U.S. and is available now. Is this the perfect vanity camcorder or would you rather stick to your Flip?
