After announcing a new push to develop more power-efficient chips for mobile devices, Intel has set a roadmap for bringing its Oak Trail processor to tablets. During the company’s 2011 Investor Conference this morning in Santa Clara, CA, CEO Paul Otellini announced that more than 10 tablets running Intel chips will be unveiled in the near future, with 35 coming to market by the end of the year.

The chip manufacturer revealed that the upcoming tablets will run on the Android, MeeGo, and Windows platforms. According to The Wall Street Journal, the tablets running Intel’s chips will debut at the Computex trade show in Taiwan, which kicks off on May 31st.

Intel’s heightened efforts to grab a take in the tablet market highlights its ongoing struggle to catch up with ARM, the low-power chip manufacturer with licensees such as Nvidia, Qualcomm, and Texas Instruments. And the fight won’t be easy; while Intel has maintained a solid lead in the PC area, it’s the smartphone and tablet space where the company faces stiff competition.
