If iOS 4.3 Update Drained Your iPhone Battery, Disable Ping

Apr 2, 2011 02:00 PM EDT by Brian Hogg

Many people are reporting greatly diminished battery life on their iPhones after updating to iOS 4.3. While Apple has yet to release another update to fix the problem, SimpleHelp.net, by way of Lifehacker, has a tip that should help improve battery power noticeably: Disable Ping.

Apparently, Ping, Apple’s music recommendation service/social network, uses a lot of system resources, which causes a battery drain. If you don’t use Ping, or want to reclaim some battery life, you can disable it. To do so, just go into your iPhone’s Settings App, go into “General,” then “Restrictions.” From there, click to Enable Restrictions, then switch Ping from On to Off. You can also disable any other features you might not need; every little bit of juice helps.

Apparently the 4.3.1 update fixed this and was released last week. Prior to 4.3.1 I did have a battery drain after installing 4.3. But now I have normal battery usage.
