HTC-Made Facebook Phone Launching at Mobile World Congress?
January 26th, 2011 by Jamall Oluokun According to a story first published by CityAM, HTC is gearing up to launch a Facebook branded phone at Mobile World Congress.
Sources close to the project have described the phone as running a modified version of Android (don’t they all?) that will feature deep integration of a user’s Facebook contacts and other personal information. Facebookers Joe Hewitt (of Firefox fame) and Matthew Papakipos (a former member of the Google Chrome browser team) are said to be leading the project.
Unlike most rumors these days, this one will at least be confirmed in a matter of weeks, as Mobile World Congress is just around the corner.
Even though Facebook has previously denied that such a phone exists, this latest news jives nicely with the company’s latest statements that it will be focusing most of its attention on the mobile space in 2011.
