HTC Incredible S Hands-On: Attractive Chassis Meets Rotatable Buttons

The highest-end phone that HTC announced today is the Incredible S, a refresh of its popular Incredible handset. The device has pretty standard specs for high-end smart phone including a 1-GHz Snapdragon CPU, 768MB of RAM, 1.1 GB of internal storage, and a 4-inch 840 x 480 screen. Dual-facing cameras (1.3 and 8-MP)  are a new feature, but table stakes for high-end phones released this year. The device even falls short in connectivity, because it only touts 3G speeds. However, what really makes the Incredible stand out is its design.

The all-black rubberized, unibody chassis is appealing and just felt great in our hands. Though the phone has Android 2.2 instead of Gingerbread and therefore lacks the HTC Sense 2.0 UI enhancements that we saw on the Desire S (new notifications pulldown, bottom menu on apps screen, it does have one really unique and intriguing UI feature. The Android capacitive buttons have icons that rotate with the display orientation. So, if you move the device from portrait to landscape mode, the home button rotates too so the house icon is right-side up.

Check out a our hands-on video below to get a closer look at the Incredible S and its rotating buttons.

  1. i told u so.com Says:

isnt anyone out here REALLY REALLY REALLY TIRED of the same ole boring android phone that is extremly simliar to the previous android phone that came out less then 4 months prior. Come on, and on top of that Android is not a innovated OS compared to Webos, or WP7 smh. Can we please wake up the sheep that buy support android and get some real innovated devices soon so the editors on all these websites stop reviewing another Google brick.
