HTC Droid Incredible Wins 2010 Android Cup, to Take On Palm Pre Plus

July 6th, 2010 by Michael A. Prospero, LAPTOP Reviews Editor

In not so close voting over the weekend, the HTC Droid Incredible trounced the Google Nexus One, 9,053 to 2,056. Thanks to all who participated!

But then we got to thinking: we now have two smartphones that each beat out 15 of their peers–the Incredible, and the Palm Pre Plus, which won our Smartphone Madness back in March. So why not pit these two winners against each other, and see who comes out on top?

The fight between the Droid Incredible and the Palm Pre Plus starts tomorrow, 9 am EST. Be there!

laptopmag how bout making it a lttle more intresting and more up to date. what do you think bout putting : (htc- incredible) vs (droid x) vs (htc evo) vs (i-phone 4) vs (samsung galaxy s) vs (palm pre plus). it would be the ultimate superphone heavyweight battle !! i would watch this matchup , im sure others would too. plus the audience gets to read the strengths and weaknesses of these devices. educative…fun…whataya say? WOULD ANY OF YOU GUYS LIKE TO SEE THIS? i bet the droid x would goto the finals with i-phone4

i know the evo was eliminated in android cup comp. but i mentioned it above for a new comp because i think the evo didnt get a fair shot. the evo should’ve went to the finals.

Droid X and Galaxy S Series arent even out yet. They need a few months before they are fit to battle. The Winner of the next battle can always defend it’s title against the upcoming heavy weights.

I am very disappointed that the Nexus One lost. Oh well, it got 2nd place. It was also from the side with the good phones.
Also i can’t believe they did this just cuz i asked! :)

    @jun
That sounds very interesting, I wonder how many Apple fans follow this website. I say this as a Droid owner and as a fan (HTC Hero owner anyway) that iPhone 4 looks nice.

It figures. Laptopmag couldn’t figure out how the Pre Plus won March Madness, so here is their chance to right what they saw as a miscarriage of justice.

Hopefully the iPhone and Blackberry fans will vote with the Pre Plus fans and deliver another upset victory.

The banter here will be very fearce, I’m sure. I’ll try to skip the hype, and just say that I think webOS is amazing, and even on hardware designed more than a year ago, the Pre Plus still is my favorite.

Let’s have a clean fight, and no hitting below the belt!

true…some of the phones i mentioned arent out yet, but they are coming out in one month. i figured it would take atleast 2 or 3 months to set a battle. i guess i can play it out in my head….i am a bit biased though. i am a huge android fan. i like the way the droid x is looking. has anybody heard about the samsung galaxy s 2. supposed to come out early 2011. 2ghz processor. comes with gingerbread…daaam. i want to jump in and buy already but everytime im ready something more appealing comes around the corner. at least we android users get new stuff very frequently and the apple guys get……..a new phone every year and a half or two with a worse antenna than the previous…heh heh. GO ANDROID !

the n1 should have one but o well congrats to the incredible. the incredible isnt that incredible because who got froyo first? the n1!!! this alone makes the n1 the true winner. while we n1 owners enjoy froyo, the incredible and the rest have to wait ( excluding rooted phones that have froyo) to get froyo.

In total agreement w/Jun’s comment about updating. Iphone4 wasn’t out when Palm Pre won. Also I would most definitely pick the Pre over Incridible, I’d have to think extra hard if phone’s like the EVO and Iphone4 were in the mix (even though the EVO got knocked out by a phone nowhere near it’s level)

Can’t wait to start this match as I had a Pre Plus and now the Droid Incredible. I am still enjoying the WebOS from the Pre. It’s a terrific multitasking OS and since overclocking it to 800MHz, EVERYTHING is so smooth and instant. From time to time I have up to 25 apps running(I know, WebOS App Store has only around 2000 apps:( and it does NOT slow down at all. The “card” system used for multitasking is really excellent. I hope HP/Palm continues the WebOS evolution. Is it me or does my Droid Incredible get lousy connections, I always only have 1 bar showing signal strength. Maybe that 1 bar is all that is needed for a good connection but my sister’s Droid always has 3 bars. Now I must admit I’ve never had a dropped call from the Droid Incredible but after testing the Droid, the voice clarity and volume is way better than the Incredible. Other than that it’s pretty perfect although I’m giving the nod to the Pre Plus for it’s champion multitasking OS over Android. If I didn’t use Advance Task Killer(ATK), I would have a really slow Droid Incredible. Watch out Android fans cause from what I remember reading, there’s a WHOLE LOT of Palm Pre fans out there and they read LapTopMag.

Pre over the Incredible? You gotta be kidding. Maybe if you have baby hands. The UI is great, but that’s where the competition ends. The Pre should have a much larger user base being available for so long on three carriers, but I have a feeling the D-Inc will win out. Game on.

Palm Pre Plus wins hands down.
