HP Veer Hands-on: Is it Too Cute?

Think of it as the snack size webOS phone. The Veer looks like its replacing the Pixi as the smallest handset in the webOS lineup, featuring an almost comically tiny design. This rounded 3.6-ounc slider sports a small 2.6-inch display (400 x 320 pixels), and a sliding design that reveals a gummy keyboard. Yes, the keys are miniaturized, but we didn’t have a problem pecking out a few words during our brief hands-on time. Those with large hands, though, should definitely steer clear of the Veer.

Under the hood is an 800-MHz processor, 8GB of memory, and a (no surprise) small 910mAh battery. We have to wonder how long this device will last on a charge. All the webOS features seemed to work well, and the handset easily handled a game of Angry Birds. But the Veer definitely seems like a niche play.

What do you think? Is the Veer cool or too cute? Check out the video below for a closer look.

I’m definitely getting one. Love the small size. Went from 3 years of iphones to my current sony ericsson x10 mini. Love it, but will love this even more. I only need the top 20 or so apps and looks like WebOS has them all, so I’m good with it. Google sync….sure, I”ll have to log into webapps instead of dedicated apps but that’s a small price to pay.

it’s definitely enticing. I’m not feeling the screen res but it might do fine.

Count me in! This will be a good upgrade for my even smaller Neonode N2 ;)
