The "raw performance" (that is not there) you are referring to, is exactly the Atom's merit! That's why we experience the netbook mushroom cloud now. The need for more power, more speed, more this, more that, more bells, more whistles reflects the typical consumer's blind attitude. Have you ever heard your neighbor proudly introducing his new car that's "way smaller and slower than his old, huge mega powered road ship?" No, you didn't. Not yet. The new, practical and rational way of thinking is breaking through the walls of pride and greed. The Atom takes you on the cruise here: "Where do I need power for, when I use my lappy for social networking, send and receive a mail, doing some word processing?", which applies to so many users!
