Tha lacking VGA port is a major laydown. The problem is that the HP "displayport to VGA adapter" does not seem to be available anywhere. Therefore, beware of this notebook if you are a scientist who wants to use it for presentations! I hope that this adapter will be available very soon!

Would be really intrested in buying this laptop but have some questions before buying.

Is it possible to transfer audio threw the displayport on the 5310M? And the audio port it has, can it handle digital audio, for example that I could watch DVDs with this laptop and connect it to my hometheather and get surround sound?

Thanks for the review... I have been dying to check this notebook ever since I read the reviews. I see that they are for sale on HP.com, but would you happen to know where I can check one out in person? I would like to get a feel for the keys/trackpad before I buy! Seems like the release has been pretty quiet...

Seems very impressive. Sad about the crappy speakers though. I assume its hard to find something decent that fits into a unit of this size, but still, others seem to have accomplished it. If I want to watch a video in my hotel room it shouldn't be difficult to hear the audio.

Personally I don't find the displayport to be a problem. I would be expecting all the laptops to move in this direction. As long as they offer adapters for VGA and preferably DVI, the native displayport support should do the job.

What about the heat and fan noise? Is the fan always spinning during idle or only under load?
