HP Mini 1100 Series Not A New Line of Netbooks
January 22nd, 2009 by Joanna Stern
Yesterday, some new models of the HP Mini popped up on the company’s Web site. While the HP Mini 1100 Series appeared just a few days after DigiTimes reported that HP will be releasing 11.6 and 13.3 inch sized notebooks in the coming months, HP gave us official comment that this is not a new line of notebooks.
According to HP’s notebook division, the Mini 1110 is simply a new model/configuration of the Mini 1000 series. The hardware is the same as the orginal Mini 1000 which launched in October, but the sku may just refer to operating system differences (i.e. Windows XP or HP’s Linux MIE offering). HP has a policy of updating model numbers several times a year, usually supporting new or changed configurations.
We will keep our ears to the ground for more information about the rumored HP larger sized notebooks.
