The more frequently your iPhone 5 checks your email, the more power it uses. If you use push email, the handset will be receiving email constantly and eating up your battery. However, you can tweak the phone’s settings to check email less frequently or only when you manually request it.
- Navigate to the Settings menu, then tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
- Tap Fetch New Data.
- Toggle Push to Off. This disables email from being pushed to your iPhone in real-time.
- Tap Manually so that a check mark appears next to it. That means that you’ll only get new data when you manually go into your Mail app and check. Keep in mind, though, that the less you check your Mail app, the longer your battery will last.
