Hannspree’s HannsNote Netbook Looks Familiar…

hannsnotemsiwind-u100Ready for another netbook? Hannspree is getting in on the mini-notebook game with their 10-inch HannsNote. It has the specs you’d expect: 1.6GHz Intel Atom N27; 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM; 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi; 6-cell battery, etc. Considering that Hannspree touts its “visionary design concepts,” I’m surprised that this netbook isn’t more distinctive-looking. Perhaps it would be if they’d designed the machine from the ground up, but it actually appears to be a rebranded MSI Wind U100. As Liliputing’s Brad points out, this is nothing new (remember the Averatec Buddy?). The original MSI Wind was a favorite of ours and the first netbook to wow us with long battery life. However, that was a year ago. But in order to stand out in the crowded field of netbooks now manufacturers have to bring something more to the table than the usual specs. The HannsNote’s MSRP is $379, but you can get it on Amazon now for $315.
