Hands On With Newber’s Location Aware Business Number iPhone App
September 12th, 2008 by Todd Haselton
Newber, a brand new iPhone application, is aware of your location at all times, and lets you quickly transfer calls from one phone directly to your iPhone. So if you’re in your office about to head out the door for the weekend, you can seamlessly tell Newber to take the call from your office line to your iPhone and walk out the door, without the caller ever knowing you made the switch. And you can switch away from your iPhone over to your home phone the minute you walk in your front door, too.
To make all of this work, Newber assigns you a new number that you can hand out to all of your friends, and depending on your location, it will ring the phone closest to you that you set as default: whether that’s your home or office number.
The application costs $5 per month and 2-cents per minute to use, which we think is a bit expensive, but there are discount rates for international calls and you won’t be using up your cellphone minutes while you’re on the call.
