RAM is limited to 2 Gb and not 1. There is an optional 720p screen. But i would like to have a matte display, which i highly doubt beeing possible…

1 GB of Ram? Please no limitations on the ram…. This issue to me IS CRITICAL!!!!!!!!!!!

To me a manufacturer on computers who simply limits Ram on any PC is just saying to the consumer >>> DON´T BUY IT!

That´s what Dell is telling me >>> Don´t buy this Netbook!

1 GB of Ram just makes the netbook not to work, frizes the software and to me IT JUST IS A MESS!

NO WAY 1 GB OF RAM!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for the quick review. Aside from the fact that I see plenty of bezel, will a true 720p (1280×720) screen be offered? I have no use for radio, GPS and TV in my netbook so I hope the price will be reasonable without those options. Just give me one with 1GB RAM, the high-res screen and Linux/XP.

Oh, and I second the matte screen comment.

1. What is the screen resolution? (See other comments for details on this question.)

2. Is there an option for Linux instead of Windows? Will the Linux version again be crippled (e.g. less SSD space as in the Mini 9)?

3. Most important: Is there a matte screen option available? As we can see in the video, glare and reflections on glossy displays hurt the usability of a portable device, especially working outside, on the train, or elsewhere you do not have control over the lighting situation.

4. Does anyone (from Laptopmag or Dell) read these comments and is able to answer?

Oellph, my thoughts too. Apparently, the screen cover (glass?) extends over the bezel, making it flush with the screen, like that of the new HP Mini 1000.

Questions still…

- is it using an SSD or a hard drive, and if the latter is it a slow 1.8″ PATA or something else?
- else there an access panel on the bottom like on the Dell Mini 9?
- can you upgrade the RAM past 1GB? I assume not since its Poulsbo, but…
- please clear up the screen resolution confusion. i’ve seen 1024×600, 1024×576 and Dell’s 16:9 720p statement which would suggest 1280×720.
- is the screen LED backlit or not (e.g. 15 steps of brightness rather than 7)?
- is the default battery really only 3 cell? odd with the Mini 9 having a 4 cell…
