Green: It’s What’s For Lunch

lunch.jpgJoanna and I are here at the Greener Gadgets Conference finally taking a quick break for lunch. We can’t find a bottle of water anywhere, but there’s plenty of fizzling juices ranging from free-range apple to organic pomegranate. The sandwiches are pretty delicious, though, they’re whole gain wheat bread–so whole you can see the grains, the kind of bread you made fun of kids for in middle school–and sliced turkey. The turkey lived a fulfilling life on a farm and died of old age behind the shed. Potato chips on the side are homemade. The whole place is eating off of paper plates, which oddly don’t look one-bit like they’re made out of recycled paper (they’re white, not brown) and the soda is in cans–the same 106,000 cans Americans consume every 30 seconds. Correction: As I recycled my paper plate I learned that they were, in fact, made of sugar cane. Back to work. Stay green pony boy, stay green.
