Got Wood, Mini-Notebooks?
June 4th, 2008 by Joanna Stern
As previously mentioned the Intel Atom booth here at Computex is chock full of every type of mini-notebook you have ever wanted. Everything from the Eee PC 1000 to the Intel Classmate PC to the MSI Wind to the Acer Aspire one ($649.83) are on display. And although they are all different in their own ways, they all look very similar to each other.
But amongst the crowd was a wooden mini-notebook that caught my eye. Though the netbook was unbranded, I have a sneaking suspicion that it is in fact the Amtek Elego since its neighboring system clad in a bright yellow, which read Elego on the lid, was a replica.
But does a wooden mini-notebook make sense? Not if it heats up like this one does. Touching the palm rest was very warm and the underside of the notebook was steamy. Though there was a fan on the right side, it didn’t seem to be doing much.
Check out the video of the wood burning mini-notebook.
