Google Delays Android: Apple Hiring 3D Programmer for iPhone Team

February 4th, 2008 by Todd Haselton

boxingIf a job search page offers any glimpse towards what’s up Apple’s sleeve, we could be seeing some 3D enhanced and brand new applications shortly. In similar news today, Google delayed its Android platform today for “several weeks,” according to developer advocate Quang Nguyen. Meanwhile, we’re expecting Apple’s SDK by the end of the month.

The Apple job description reads: “Responsibilities include conceiving, developing, and prototyping new interactions for various components of Max OS X…” The job also calls for experience with 3D modeling applications, interactive media design, and animation. In an ideal world, this could mean an actual 3D GPS environment, perhaps better gaming, or the beginning of a 3D application like Time Machine, or a more involved desktop experience. While Apple is revving up its iPhone team, Google has pushed back its deadline submissions for developer applications.

Google’s SDK, Android, was delayed after the company decided to make “significant updates to the SDK.” No word on what these updates are, but we’ll likely see a huge competition between iPhone SDK and Google Android programmers in the coming months as both SDKs are released.
